Delicious, wholesome muffins.

Saturday, May 31, 2014

A little over a week ago I made some muffins that were adapted from my friend, Jeni's recipe and they turned out to be delish! I told some people I'd post it on here to share, so here ya go. Enjoy!

Makes 12 muffins:

2 C flour (I did 1 white, 1 wheat)
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup oil
1/2 C honey (I used agave instead of honey so Kennedy Lou could eat them)
1 egg
Splash of vanilla
1 cup frozen berries

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix the dry ingredients together, then dump in all the wet ones and mix again. Fold in the berries. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Voila!

Over the holiday weekend.

We had a really fun and relaxing Memorial Day weekend! Cole and I got to go to the Real Salt Lake game on Saturday for free! His boss was in town from St. George and had some extra tickets so of course we had to go! Then on Sunday night we camped out in Cole's parents' backyard and watched How to Train Your Dragon on a big bed sheet using a projector. Then the next day the entire Gordon family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc. all got together at a park in Provo for some yummy food and good old fashioned family time. To top it all off we drove up to the Salt Lake area to a good friend of ours family's house and played some soccer with an exercise ball, then went for a swim.

Most importantly though, we expressed our gratitude for all of the many brave men and women who give and have given their time, talents, energy and often times lives, for our country. God bless America, my home sweet home!

Kennedy joined in on all the fun and had a good time camping and chowing down on some fresh strawberries and watermelon. I've decided summertime is definitely the most fun with a baby girl like ours. :)

The 9 month old Kennedy Lou.

Time with this little girl seems to go by way too fast...she's 9 months old and still full of love, energy and personality! And according to this picture, maybe she's learned how to give a fake smile? Not sure. :)

Kennedy Lou at 9 months you:

Like to whisper "who's that?" when looking at yourself in the mirror and you also whisper "what's that?" when you're holding something. It's pretty stinkin' cute and funny!

You know what the word no means  and you don't like it when you're told no. Who does though, right? :)

You've been standing on your own and there have even been  couple of times that you go from squatting to standing. No steps have been taken, YET.

Your third tooth is making it's debut on the upper right side. It's not one of the front ones, but the one of the ones next to it. Make sense? If not, just ask me and I'll show you what I'm talking about. :)

We took you to a pool over Memorial Day weekend and you weren't quite sure what to think of it. The water was a little cool and the sun had already started going down AND you were tired, so we'll give that a try again when the circumstances are a little more in your favor.

You've become really good at picking up the little finger foods we give you and today I even tore up a little whole wheat pancake I made for you, topped it with some raspberry syrup and put it in a bowl for you to feed yourself from. You did so good! You didn't even dump the bowl in the floor like I figured you would. :)

You're starting to be more in the know about who people are and you're a little more hesitant to go to just anyone, which is a good thing and sometimes a bad thing I suppose. You'll wave and smile at just about anyone though!

You also thoroughly enjoy taking selfies. Haha :)

We love you to the moon and back baby girl! Please stop growing so fast, okay?

Swinging and "hunting."

Saturday, May 24, 2014

These pictures of Kennedy are from a month or so ago, but they're just too cute not to share! In all reality, I meant to blog about her first time swinging at the park as well as her first Easter, but I've definitely been slacking in the blogging department lately. Here's to a renewed desire to be a better blogger! Enjoy this little catch up session. :)

A great eight months.

Sunday, May 4, 2014

Things in our home have been a little crazy lately since I started a new job and since Cole was going through finals at BYU, but now we're on a bit of an easier schedule, so hopefully I'll get back to keeping everyone up to date on what's going on with our little family here in Utah!

Seeing as how Kennedy Lou will be 9 months old in just a few short days, I better get on with the eight month update!

Kennedy Lou at 8 months you:

Are starting to stand on your own! It's usually only for a few short seconds, but you're gettin' there.

We're pretty sure you can say hi and do a little bit of a wave, and you are saying "dada" and sometimes it even sounds like you're saying "daddy." You can also say "mama," but only when you're whining and ready to eat or take a nap. It's really cute nonetheless!

You've climbed some stairs lately too, but you're not very good at coming down them, so we have to keep an eye on you whenever we're in a place with any stairs.

You have the biggest, bluest eyes still. Everyone notices them and talks about how beautiful you are - and I have to say I agree. :)

You know how to open and close drawers and cabinets, which has led to many more messes to clean up!

You've loved being able to play outside now that the weather is getting nice and warm! You like to eat leaves, so we have to watch out for that, but other than that you have a great time and could spend all day outside!

You are so full of love, laughter and life Kennedy Lou. Thanks for making our home a lovelier and happier place baby girl! We wouldn't trade you for the world.
