Kennedy Lou, the five month old babe.

We've had this little girl of ours for (more than) 5 months it just me or does that seem crazy?! She's so much fun, but we're still trying to figure out how to get her on a regular sleep schedule and boy does it present its good and bad moments. Who needs sleep though, right? :)

Kennedy Lou at 5 months old you:

Can roll from your back to your stomach! This is big for you because you weren't the biggest fan of tummy time, but we think you're starting to realize you can experience more of your surroundings when you're on your tummy. We put toys in front of you and you focus so hard on getting to them, but you haven't quite figured out how to crawl yet. We look forward to when you can, but we'll still relish the moments right now while you're not getting into everything. :)

You can also pivot on your stomach. We'll lay you down on a blanket on the floor and next thing we know you're facing the complete opposite way!

You've been on 4 plane rides in your short 5 months of life and you are a pretty good little traveler! You and I flew to Texas while dad was finishing up his finals and working so that everyone could see you and spoil you (let's be honest, I don't even matter anymore :)) a little more. It took a few days but you warmed up to all the lovin' that everyone wanted to give you while we were there!

Your 0-3 and 3 month sized clothes are getting a little snug, especially your cozy pajamas, so we've switched over to 3-6 months now. You're putting the weight on and gettin' longer and I'm not sure how I feel about it!

You make this little coughing noise and will do it back and forth with us, it's so funny and cute! We've got to get that on video for sure.

We've yet to give you anything but breast milk, but we're looking forward to starting you on some solid foods come next month! I've even ordered a special cookbook so I can make you yummy, healthy and fresh baby food. I hope you enjoy it!

As always, we love you dearly. Can you please stop growing so fast? We'd appreciate that.

While we were in Texas over the Christmas break the step-mom of one of my best friends from high school (follow me?) offered to take some family pictures for us and she was able to capture some really cute ones! Thanks a million to Ericka Moore for this wonderful opportunity!

A Very Merry (Texas) Christmas and a Happy New Year

So it's been a while, but we need to document our wonderful time in Texas with our beloved family and dear friends and our start to the new year!

Kennedy and I flew down to Texas a week before Cole joined us since he had to work and take finals, and overall she did really well on the flights! I had to get creative on keeping her entertained at times, as you can see. :)

Kennedy tried out the elf ears for a bit and liked them, was showered with gifts and love from every one she came in contact with, met Santa for the first time (who may or may not have been her Grandpa Jeff :)) and got to meet just about every single member of the Rodriguez family (my mom's side) since we had a great big Christmas get together  for the first time in my life (which was an awesome thing and I hope it becomes a tradition) complete with tamales, lots of laughter, cookie and ornament decorating and kumbia music. What more could you want?!

We had such a good time in Texas and love and appreciate all my family did to make our stay in Texas possible. We can't wait to go back and soak up some sun again!

Since we've been back in Utah Cole has started school again, I'm working on becoming certified to teach Pilates and Kennedy is growing like a weed. She's almost 6 months old!! Which, by the way, her 5 month update is on its way!

Here's to a new year full of love, laughter and change for the better!

Kenned Lou, the great teacher.

The other night I jokingly said something about Kennedy being closer to Christ than we (Cole and myself) are, but when I really stopped to think about it, I realized how true it really was. Today has been a rough day. Kennedy didn't sleep well last night and has been fighting a nap all day, which leaves laundry to be put away, dishes to be done and an apartment to be picked up, but you know what? When I finally decided to just hold her and play with her and make her giggle, I realized the lesson she was trying to teach me. These two quotes came to mind as I looked at the joy in her eyes that I finally understood her cries, "Just play with me mom! Everything else can wait."

I love this baby girl of ours and I look forward to the growing she will help me go through as I learn to better nurture and mother her. Here's to a better tomorrow!
