Divine intervention.

A little over a week ago I was being a bit of a stink. Nothing new, right? :) Lately I've been in a bit of a funk and I wanna say it's because I've been stressed or for some other reason that is out of my control, but the more I think about it, the reasons are always within my control. I choose to be upset over things that really aren't that significant in an eternal perspective and the attitude I have makes such a difference.

Cole seems to always be the one that suffers the most from these happenings, which I hate, but it's true. On the same day that I was upset with him over a silly thing I get an email with a quote from our most recent General Conference. It said:

"We are not perfect. The people around us are not perfect. People do things that annoy, disappoint, and anger. In this mortal life it will always be that way. Nevertheless, we must let go of our grievances. Part of the purpose of mortality is to learn how to let go of such things. That is the Lord’s way. Remember, heaven is filled with those who have this in common: They are forgiven. And they forgive."

This was proof to me that Heavenly Father is very aware of what is happening in our lives. Both good and bad. He knew that I needed to have a change of heart and that I needed some divine intervention in my life and He made it happen.

Thank goodness for moments like these in my life.

I love my husband.

General Conference, April 2012

Three weeks ago our Church held what is known to members as General Conference. This wonderful occasion happens twice every year - the first weekend in April and October.

We were able to go to 3 out of the 4 sessions in Salt Lake City this year! Thanks to our friends Heather & AJ, Gabi & Christian and our bishop!

What General Conference means to us:

April -
Since joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, my life has been blessed in many ways. One such way is that I have been able to seek guidance in my life through what prophets of old like Moses and Noah have taught from their experiences, but I have also been able to seek answers through what modern day prophets and apostles have to say concerning the troubles in our world today. I never really thought about how there used to be prophets and apostles and then all of sudden there weren't any, but when I found out that Heavenly Father had not left us here alone without a mouthpiece on this earth for him, it all made perfect sense to me that there are and should be prophets and apostles, especially amidst all of the trouble we face in our world today. I loved getting to attend General Conference this past weekend to feel the Spirit of the Lord touch my heart concerning the matters which were on  my mind.

I love the gospel. I love my husband. I love my family. Most importantly, I love my Savior.

Cole -
General Conference is basically a twice a year pep talk from the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love it. Those who watch it are uplifted and blessed by the scriptures, stories, and lessons shared by the leaders of the Church. General Conference happens in the spring and in the fall and is a time that we are able to sustain the leaders of the Church, hear membership statistics and any new announcements for the body of the Church, and  be uplifted by the words of Christ. I am very grateful for General Conference and the opportunity to receive additional guidance and instruction from those God has called to help us come closer to Him.

If you don't want to sit and watch the whole thing, at least watch this video that highlights the main points and quotable lines from General Conference. I promise this video will lift your spirits. :)

We hope you're having a wonderful, relaxing Sunday!

CNN Article on LDS Temples

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

I came across this article on CNN and thought it was well written according to the LDS faith and belief in Temple worship, so I thought I'd share it to help out with any confusion or questions anyone might have regarding what goes on inside of the Temple and what the inside of the Temples look like. Enjoy!
