We're still alive, promise!

So I realize that it's been a really long time since we've updated y'all on our lives.

We've been doing a good amount of studying today seeing as how our finals start

I received this quote in my email today and I think it is what is going to get me through. Maybe it can be comforting to you as well.

"Our Heavenly Father is aware of our needs and will help us as we call upon Him for assistance. I believe that no concern of ours is too small or insignificant. The Lord is in the details of our lives."
-Thomas S. Monson (A prophet of God and the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)

A real update with some pictures and more words should be on its way soon!

We love you all.

Cole & April

P.S. Look at the weather forecast for Orem right now! Maybe we'll have a white Christmas after all. :)

Gordon's Halloween Party

Friday, November 2, 2012

We wanted to share some of the fun we were able to have this past Halloween with a good group of friends. This post won't be near as good as the others because it's my (Cole) first time trying this blogging thing. Okay, maybe second....I did prove last year that my taste in candy was superior to April's.

April and I decided to dress up as old people. How do we look?

These are our good friends Curtis and Macey. Team managers.

Not even Brock and Stacey knew what they were; although Stacey did make a pretty convincing Zebra with April's snuggie.

Fitting costumes for a couple that met in Jerusalem on a study abroad. Josh and Kelsey.

Madi and McKay were there thankfully and made sure no one was hurt carving pumpkins.

Ron Weasley (my good friend AJ) and another Hogwarts attendee his wife Heather.

Skyler and Laetitia came as a fierce lumberjack and a tree. Sorry he stole your decorations Aunt Maria.

Kellen and Annie were here wishing everyone , "May the odds be ever in your favor."

Marshall and Emily were here representing one of our favorite movies!

Nic, Dani, and their soon to be made a great s'more!

Tamara and Nick were here as a vampire and a.....child molester?

Josh and Emily were here as cop and robber...

Then after Emily decided to go 'streaking' she had to be arrested.

Skyler carved a wicked Samurai and Laetitia was scared of the spider and ghost she carved on her own pumpkin.

This was a first time carving pumpkins for Laetitia and she loved it!

I went to wipe some pumpkin guts on April and got in trouble.

Here are the wonderful pumpkins we carved!

I carved this in honor of our Texas family :)

Still Laetitia's

The end of Laetitia's

McKay's pirate got a hatchet to the brain (The Walking Dead style)

We hope you enjoyed this brief update of our Halloween fun!

Remember us?

Sunday, October 28, 2012

So, we haven't updated y'all in a while - sorry about that! As you probably know, school has been keeping us pretty busy. That's no excuse though!

Since we last updated y'all on the events of our life...

Cole turned 24! Such an old man now. ;)

The leaves have changed colors on the trees and it's so beautiful. I go out of my way while I'm walking from class to class to step on the crunchy ones. Trees in Utah are so gorgeous during the fall. That is definitely one of the many things I will miss when we move someday.

The weather has cooled off. We even had snow this past week! So crazy. It's going to be in the 60s this week though, so Halloween shouldn't be too bad.

I graduate in 22 weeks from now...HOLY COW! That's a pretty intimidating, yet accomplishing thing to thing about. I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to be a big girl with a big girl job, but at the same time I'm SO ready to get out into the world and put my knowledge to work!

Now for the pictures to help illustrate what's been going on with us Gordon's in Orem, UT.

Cole enjoying his "coffee" ice cream for his birthday. Don't worry, there's not real coffee in it, just the flavoring. :)

We found a recipe for a 7 layer dip that was full of fresh and healthy ingredients that's so yummy! I'll share it with you if you want. :)
Fresh picked flowers from our yard. Love them.

Cole finally gave in to my desire of wanting some Halloween decorations and let me buy these Jack-o-lantern lights!

This is what our front yard looks like today. Isn't it beautiful?

The cute pumpkins Cole made for me! Inspired by the one and only Pinterest. :)

Enjoying a Cougar Tail at a BYU football game a few weeks ago.

So for Cole's birthday (it was on a Thursday) I secretly found him coverage for work so that we could go camping on Thursday night and not have to wake up early for work on Friday and it was SUCH a success! He had no idea what was going on, but he was SO excited when he realized what was happening. :)

We ate at Bajio for Cole's birthday lunch. :)

I'm guessing this is Cole's excited face as we headed home from Bajio to pack our things and head to the mountains for the night?

The drive to our "spot" at Cascade Springs was SO beautiful and colorful.

Simply breathtaking.
We saw some Turkeys!

Packing up camp and getting ready to head out.

Before we went home on Friday (the day after Cole's birthday) we drove to Midway and surprised Joan and Garth with a visit and went on a fun drive and had lunch with them! Gotta love those two. :)

As you can see, although we've been quite the busy bees, we ALWAYS make time for fun and memories. I'm publicly pledging to be a better blogger from now on. I can't keep y'all waiting to hear about our adventures like that again!

Love always,

Cole and April

LDS General Conference Highlights, October 2012

Sunday, October 14, 2012

Roughly 6 months ago The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had it's semiannual General Conference. Since it's a semiannual event, we were blessed to yet again listen to the leaders of our Church uplift and inspire us last weekend. It always seems to happen right when I need the spiritual enlightenment the most and boy did my soul have a feast this past time!

I now have the next 6 months to try and be a better me by implementing the principles taught and by the end of those 6 months I'll be running on empty needing more encouragement, which always makes for perfect timing of the next General Conference.

If you missed it last time,  you can read our thoughts and feelings about General Conference here

(Click on the word "here" to take you to the past post about General Conference).

This video highlights key points from conference. I know it's a bit long, but I promise you that if you're willing to sit through an hour of your favorite TV series, then you can sit through this and feel even better than when you're done watching your usual shows.

Here at BYU we are privileged to have a devotional every Tuesday from 11-11:45. Men and women from all over the University are chosen to speak on whatever topic they feel they should and enlighten us with their message.

Yesterday, Professor Ray Huntington, who teaches in the Ancient Scripture department here at BYU, talked about gratitude and how we can show more of it in our lives. One thing that he said that stuck out to me the most that I'd like to share is,

""It is not joy that makes us grateful,
it's gratitude that makes us joyful."

I hope that you can start to see how Heavenly Father is touching your life and the lives of those you love each and every day and that as you start to recognize it, you show your gratitude to Him.

Bear Lake

Friday, September 21, 2012

Last weekend we were able to go up to a place known as Garden City, UT which is right beside Bear Lake. Some family friends, the Thomas' were kind enough to let us all go up and stay at their cabin that's right on the water for the weekend and we had a blast!

Thanks Thomas family!!

Cole and I had some fun on the jetski, even though the water was freezing and as if were weren't cold enough that day, we went to Glacier Lake and jumped into it from a rope swing. The water was so cold it took your breath away! Surprisingly enough...I did it! I still can't believe I did it, but I'm glad I did. :)

We even have video footage to prove it!

Can you see the dragonfly?
