I. Can't. Focus!

Sunday, December 26, 2010

So it's been really nice being home, seeing my family and friends, and pigging out on yummy food...but can it be Monday already please?! I'm dying without my other half who is anxiously waiting for me to get to New York City to finally be with him again after 12 loooooong days!

These two are the only things that my mind thinks about.
ALL. THE. TIME!

Home for the Holiday

Saturday, December 18, 2010

I'm in the homeland of Texas! I got here Wednesday afternoon and the weather was BEAUTIFUL. It's pretty chilly now, but it's gonna warm up so that's nice!

Every time I come home for any school break it's always kinda different. It's a different feel than it was when I actually lived here. I think it's just because I've now moved on in life. I love it here and I love coming home to see my family and my friends that I haven't seen in a while, but I've definitely moved on from this place. I had some good times and some bad times growing up here, and being here for long periods of time just kinda puts me in a funk. There's not a lot to do so I end up sittin at home most of the day and hanging out with my family and then I end up going to Walmart to get a movie from the Red Box and some Blue Bell ice cream with Erin and Savanna. It makes for good times, but I definitely miss the night life of Provo. I especially miss my amazing boyfriend Cole! This is the longest we've been apart from each other and it's definitely not fun or easy for either one of us.
At least we have adventures in New York to look forward to! :)

Even though there's not a lot to keep me entertained I was able to tag along with my dad to go to one of the farms that my family has and feed the cows. This was something that I absolutely LOVED to do when I was growing up. I would get up and go with my grandpa early on Saturday mornings and help him out by standing in the back of his truck and holding cow cake in my hands and feeding it to the cows. Unfortunately this time the cows weren't used to me being around so they were pretty nervous with me being around, but it was nice getting to go out there and see the cows and the farm land that I have so many memories on. I also got some good pictures of the Texas sunset! Oh how I miss it.

The salt blocks and bags of cow cake we gave to the cows.

They were chowing down!

I made her pretty nervous so she kept her distance.

This is what the sun looked like just after we got to the farm.

This is what it looked like as we were getting ready to leave. So beautiful!

Temple Square at Christmas Time

I just love Temple Square in SLC around Christmas time! Going there to see the lights and see the nativity scene that's set up is just the way to get into the Christmas spirit. Cole and I along with his amazing sister Madi and her friend Omar went to the BYU basketball game and then went to walk around Temple Square afterwards to look at the lights. It was lots of fun with people that I love!

The Reason for the Season

Sunday, December 12, 2010

I have been thinking a lot about Christmas and what it's really all about. I've realized that for the majority of my life I haven't really focused a lot on the true meaning of Christmas. I remember listening to the Christmas story that's found in the gospels of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and the older women telling the story with the felt board and I always loved that! I feel like for the most part though most of my Christmases have been all about the gifts. Not saying that giving gifts is bad, but it's definitely not what Christmas is all about. I am grateful for the true meaning of Christmas and I know that the reason we celebrate it is because we are commemorating the life of our Savior Jesus Christ. He was the perfect example of how we should live our lives and He lives today to help us out when we need it. I'm so grateful for Him and all that He has done for me and all that He continues to do. I hope and pray that we all have a very Merry Christmas and that we take into account the reason for this season.

We watched this today in my Sunday school class and it really touched me. I hope you enjoy it! :)

He's Got It All

Mr. Nicholas Clark Gordon has it all. He's mine all mine and I LOVE it!
He always knows how to make me smile and laugh.
There's never a dull moment with him.
He's so good to me and I plan on keepin' him around for a while!!

Father Knows Best

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

As much as we all hate to admit, our parents usually know what's best for us. Especially our Heavenly Father. I have been thinking a lot about my life and what it has taken to make me who I am today and to get me where I am today and I know that without having faith in God and in the plans He has for me I would be nothing. I am so blessed and as I start to notice the little things He does for me each and everyday and as I notice my blessings the more they start to stand out and I am better able to see His hand in my life. I am SO grateful for the people that He has placed in my life to get me where I am today. As stressed as I am with the demands of school, work and life in general I can still find peace and happiness in knowing that I am loved by my Father in heaven and He will help me get through anything as long as I trust in Him. What a wonderful thing that is! I think it being the Christmas season has me thinking a lot about this and how God sent His only begotten son to earth to suffer for all of our pains, sicknesses and afflictions. We cannot even begin to understand this miraculous event but we can use it in our lives and show God that we are trying to live our lives in ways that He would have us do by being grateful for all that we're blessed with and by sharing those blessings with others.

Vida es bonita.
