I believe I can fly

Soooo I'm sitting at the airport in Salt Lake City about to get on a legit airplane for the FIRST TIME EVER! The drive up here from Provo was really good and as we got closer and closer to the airport I got butterflies like crazy!! I know it seems so crazy that I'm 19 and I've never flown before, but it's true! I've been on a little 4 person airplane last summer in Nebraska and that was lots of fun, but this is a LEGIT airplane we're talkin about here. I can hear them flying over and it just gets me so excited!! I'm headed to Denver, CO first and then it's Amarillo, TX! Yeehaw! :) I'm so ready to be home and see my family and friends and eat me some good southern food. It'll be a nice little break at home and when I get back up here to Utah it'll be nice to have everyone else back with me in Utah!! :) I'm gonna soak up some good Texas sun and eat me some good southern food and then it's back to the grind with school on the 30th. Life is great!!

Texas here I come!

Where has summertime gone?!

I can't believe it's already August!! Where in the world did June and July go?! When thinking about this past summer and what all I've done I must say it's been a pretty good one! I've made so many new friends and so many good memories. It was my first summer not being in good ole Childress, TX and I went to Arizona for the first time in my life this summer! (I was there for like 5 minutes once when I went to the Four Corners monument last summer, but I don't count that as really being in AZ). Why did I go to Arizona? To see one of my best friends from my freshman year here at BYU. He left on his mission just last Wednesday to go to Donetsk Ukraine and I just know he is going to bless the lives of many like he has mine. I also got a job this summer! It took me a while to find it, but I finally did. I work at the Daily Universe which is the newspaper for BYU and I love working there! I manage the classified section of the newspaper and help in other areas that I'm needed. It's so great and I was so blessed to be able to find the job.

This summer has definitely been a time of growing and changing, but all for the better. There have been many times where I have felt inadequate, inept, and unsure of myself but I have learned that all I can do is give whatever life throws at me my best shot and have faith in myself and in the Lord, and that with those 2 things I can get through anything just like Paul said in his Epistle to the Philippians "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13 It's really hard to keep an outlook like that sometimes, but it's really all that I can do right now.

As I get ready for summer to come to an end I really feel like I can say that it's been a great summer and that I'm ready for fall semester to get here. I get to go home (and fly on an airplane for the first time!) on the 20th of this month and I'll be there for about a week, so that will be a good break for me, but then it's back to work and hittin the books hard this fall. Another thing I'm lookin forward to is football season! GOOOO COUGARS! :) We just bought sports passes yesterday and it made the reality of football kickin off set in a little bit more - can't wait!

As I go throughout each day of my life I realize that I need to be better at finding a way to serve someone. Whether it's holding the door open for the person behind me, picking up a piece of trash, or simply smiling at someone as they walk by me I want to do something for someone and a really neat quote I came by the other day inspires me to do so. It's by Dieter F. Uchtdorf (an amazing man) and it says, "In the end, the number of prayers we say may contribute to our happiness, but the number of prayers we answer may be of even greater importance." I think that is so true and I think if we all try to live our lives by this simple truth the world will be a happier, lovelier place to live in. I love my life and I know that as long as I try my best to be the best that I can in all aspects of life that I will continue to be blessed and in turn I will be happy.

Love the life you live, and live the life you love!
